Classic Inside 09/2010

EDITORIAL

If you don't know your 2uettottanta from your Pandion, I hope you soon will. Both are exciting concepts from what was one of the most positive Geneva motor shows in recent years.

The low–carbon, super–efficient revolution has been gathering pace and now, after many years of quite frankly unrealistic projects, we have both astonishingly efficient, powerful mainstream cars (well done Jaguar and BMW), as well as remarkable hybrids from Ferrari, Porsche and Lotus — a subject covered in intriguing detail by John Simister today.

The Porsche 918 Spyder was one of the stars of the show — a genuine surprise entry — while we also admired the stylish and practical Bentley Continental Flying Star by Touring. This will be the subject of a full feature in next week's ClassicInside.

And at a no–less–important end of the market, the range of deluxe city cars is a growing one and was joined by Audi's A1 and — at last — the Aston Martin Cygnet Concept. The former is clearly going to be a winner, while we are maintaining our opinion on the latter. We like it.
