EDITORIAL
It was a good race, wasn't it? I don't intend to give a running commentary on every round of this year's Formula One World Championship but, let's be fair, it was a great result for Button and Brawn GP and — most of all — the sport.
Ross Brawn is a thoroughly decent chap who likes his cars and has achieved a magnificent result with the virgin (except for the last-minute 'Virgin' stickers, obviously) white and yellow single-seaters.
Many observers have put the fledgling team's one–two debut on a par with the return of the Mercedes–Benz Rennabteilung at the French GP in 1954. I prefer to consider the less successful — but possibly more sensational — debut of Ken Tyrrell's first in–house design, the 001, in 1970. Jackie Stewart was stunningly quick in the car right 'out of the box' and proceeded to wipe the floor with everyone the following year, winning the Championship by August 1971.
Whichever way you look at it, well done to all at Brackley and let's see what happens this weekend in Malaysia.
And speaking of motor racing, cars and fantastic drivers, I hope you enjoy the piece on the Astons at Goodwood. Classic Driver is delighted to support the newly formed Aston Martin Vantage GT4 team.
And, even better, it won its class first time out last weekend at Silverstone.
