EDITORIAL
I'm leaving — on a jet plane if you're interested — however, I do know when I'll be back again: a week next Tuesday, after spending seven days on the Monterey Peninsular in California.
It promises to be a fascinating week, with a jam–packed events schedule that we previewed last Friday in ClassicInside. In addition to all the classic and historic stuff, the new car manufacturers use the Monterey week to showcase their latest products to the high–rollers in the collecting world to whom a new Bugatti is, well, a new Bugatti — to add to the garage of old ones they already own.
The Bugattis at Gooding & Co. will be one of the highlights of the auction scene, but who's to say what else will be happening at Carmel, Pebble, Laguna Seca and Monterey?
I cannot wait, and you'll be able to see the latest news and auction results on Classic Driver.
Our steadfast Associate Editor, Charis Whitcombe, will be in the chair next Friday. Until two weeks' time: have a great holiday, and maybe meet up in Monterey.

The Ferrari 250 GT Lusso presented here, chassis number 4509 GT was sold new via Peter Monteverdi in 1963 to a Swiss customer. The well-known collector Michel Lepeltier, from Geneva, bought the car in 1964.

The much heralded (short wheelbase) Sport Quattro was developed in keeping with Group B regulations which required a minimum of 200 examples to be produced. As a step forward from the A2 Quattro, the Sport featured a new engine with 4 valves per cylinder (capable of outputs in the region of 500 bhp) the chassis shortened by nearly 10 inches and to improve driver visibility the windscreen rake was increased.
