Bonhams at Gstaad 2005

For the 8th year running Bonhams will be holding its ultra exclusive Ferrari-only sale at the chic Palace Hotel in Gstaad just before Christmas. Early entries for next month's sale include a classic Ferrari 250GT Tour de France berlinetta, delivered new to the USA where for many years it belonged to a pair of university professors, contrasting with a fearsome F40LM, one of a series of just 20 'LMs' built by Ferrari for racing. This 650bhp beast was sold new to Asterix creator Albert Uderzo and has unusually never raced.

Complimenting these two iconic Ferraris is one of Maranello's early models, the Vignale bodied 212 Export which won the 1953 Coppa Inter-Europa sports car race at Monza driven by Ferrari veteran Franco Cornacchia.

There are plenty of more affordable Ferraris too, starting with a bright red 246GT Dino estimated at just £30-35,000 or a metallic brown 365GTC, one of the rarest of the marque's Granturismo models built only in 1969, for £40-50,000.

For more information on the Gstaad sale, which includes 100 Lots of Ferrari-related automobilia and 30 cars and takes place on 17th December, call Bonhams in Geneva on +41 22 3003160 or e-mail Simon Kidston at [email protected].

If you've already got one but fancy something new in your garage, they're still taking entries!

1965 Ferrari 400 Superamerica, the fifth to last of these exclusive, built-to-order rarities, sold new to Signor Maggiore in Florence and now fully restored in its original silver livery with red leather upholstery (est. £250-280,000).
