HISTORY
Founded in 1906 on November 29th, Lancia & Fabbrica Automobili of Turin, Italy, was born of two Fiat racing drivers, Vincenzo Lancia and his friend Claudio Foglin. The company became renowned in the automotive world for innovative features and designs. These included the Theta in 1913, which was the first European production car to feature a complete electrical system as a standard equipment. Lancia’s first car adopting a monocoque chassis, the lambada, featured ‘Sliding Pillar’ independent front suspension that incorporated spring and hydraulic dampers into a single unit. In 1948, it was Lancia that introduced the first production car with a 5 speed gear box, a series 3 Ardea and additionally Lancia featured the first full production V6 engine in the Aurilia. It was also first to manufacture and produce a V4 engine, after experiments with V8 and V12 iterations. Other innovations saw the company, during a period were live axles were common practice for both front and rear, Lancia developed independent suspension in production cars. It is no surprise then that the company later went on to become World Rally Champions and statistically the most successful marque in rally history, winning constructor titles for their Fulvia, in 1972, and titles again in the Stratos in 1974, ’75 and ’76 and then with the Delta, six consecutive titles between 1987 and 1992!

In 1943, a Lancia engineer started work on a V6 engine design under expert engineer Vittorio Jano, and this work finished in 1948 with a fabulous 2.5 liter V6 engine. Fitted to the Lancia Aurilia B24S Convertible America, the second series was produced from July 1956 to January 1957 with just 150 units produced. The example featured here, chassis 1324 was one of the last examples, completing production on November 23, 1956.
OUR B24S

Sold new in 1957 to Mr. Mario Molanca of Bologna, Italy with the first registration PI 45967 the Lancia changed hands after five years of ownership on April 2nd, 1962 to Mr. Lino Patriarchi of Pisa, Italy but was promptly sold to Mr. Paolo Manzelli of Pisa, on August 4th of the same year. He too promptly sold the car in September to Ms Rosario Antonacci of Cermenate, Italy. It was in her hands the Lancia remained for 12 years before being sold to Mr. Giogio Colfi of Lesmo, Italy in November, 23rd, 1974 and registed MI V84885. Thankfully a love affair with the car commenced as the car remained in his care for 32 years until February 19th, 2006 when it sold, presumably to his family member, Mr. Massimo Colfi of Lesmo, Italy. Enjoyed for another two years, and shown on the stand at the Geneva Motorshow in 2006, it was finally time to part ways with the treasured B24S and on July 24, 2006 it found its way to Biella, Italy into the caring hands of Mr. Renato Novarese where it remained for a further 12 enjoyable years. In 2014, renowned collector Mr. Leo Schigiel of Miami Beach, Florida, purchased the car and decided to undertake a full and exacting restoration which took a little over two years to complete. In 2017 the car was then taken to Amelia Island and shown in its full glory. After some successful shows and much enjoyment the stunning Lancia traded hands once again and entered a prestigious collection of concours showcars, many of which have won at Pebble Beach.
