Collectors are becoming increasingly interested in pilots' watches; they’re robustly built, and their functional design is born from their need to operate in extreme situations – hence their attraction to design purists, too. The Heuer Bundeswehr 3H, designed for the German armed forces, is one such watch. It not only looks smartly understated with its black casing and matching dial, but is also one of the few Heuers to sport a ‘flying second’. What’s more, the Heuer’s pilot watches still trail behind the brand’s iconic racing watches in terms of popularity, and can therefore be acquired for relatively low prices. Perhaps not for much longer, though…
